Did you know there are more than seven chakras?

The seven chakra system is the most commonly studied one, so you only hear about these seven major energy centers.

However, many yogis believe more energetic vortexes exist, with theories ranging from 12 to 114 chakras!

While there isn’t enough available knowledge to determine these beliefs, one additional chakra we are learning more and more about is the 8th chakra, known as the soul star chakra.

Introduction To The 8th Chakra

The 8th chakra is known as the soul star chakra, star chakra, or Vyapini in Sanskrit. It is believed to be located directly above the crown chakra. As we cannot see or visually detect the chakras, their exact distance from the human body is unknown. But it is estimated to be around one foot from the top of the head.

Each chakra has a specific frequency and color associated with it. The higher the chakra, the higher the frequency. The soul star’s frequency is 1074 Hz, and its associated color is believed to be white, like the crown chakra.

In Kundalini yoga, the eighth chakra is recognized as the aura (the electromagnetic field surrounding our bodies) rather than as an energy center above our heads.

What Does The 8th Chakra Represent?

The 8th Chakra: A silhouette of a person standing on a rocky ground against a magnificent night sky filled with stars. The Milky Way is prominently visible, displaying a spectrum of colors from pink and purple to blue and green, creating an awe-inspiring backdrop.

The soul star and all the chakras located from the head upward are known as the most spiritual chakras. This is because they represent spiritual connection and transcending to a higher consciousness, and each one gives a deeper level of spiritual energy.

The soul star chakra can be seen as the gateway to the divine and our higher self, evoking deeper spiritual awareness than the crown chakra. It connects us to other dimensions and allows us to access our past-life regressions, Akashic Records, and Shadow Records.

When we can access and heal the trauma we experienced in our past lives, we clear all karmic residue. This allows us to drop the unconscious illusions, limiting beliefs, and self-sabotaging behaviors that kept us from our higher self and the divine love that follows.

The 8th chakra relates to psychic powers, mediumship, and healing of shamanic energy. Furthermore, the soul star chakra is often referred to as the seat of divine love, believed to promote spiritual compassion and spiritual selflessness.

What Does It Feel Like When The 8th Chakra Is Open?

A close-up of two hands gently touching. One hand appears small and delicate, suggesting it could be a child’s hand, while the other is larger and could belong to an adult. The lighting casts a soft glow on the scene, creating a sense of warmth and tenderness.

You gain a new level of spiritual perception when you open this chakra. Until this point, you may see yourself as a physical body with an earth-bound personality. However, this chakra opens us up to the truth that we are an immortal soul, and our physical body is just a temporary vehicle for this life. This realization increases our capacity for deep compassion and unconditional love for all beings.

Thus, the eighth chakra allows us to experience the spiritual dualism of life on earth. We fully realize there is no separation between beings, only oneness, as all beings share the same universal consciousness.

Moreover, when the 8th chakra is open, you’ll clearly understand what your soul’s purpose (or dharma) for this lifetime is. In order words, you’ll know exactly where you are in this specific incarnation. This clarity comes through releasing the egoic self and all its limitations and connecting with the higher self.

How To Open The 8th Chakra

The higher chakras are believed to be the most difficult to open, as you have to work your way up the system. Thus, you must ensure there is clear energy flowing through the seven major chakras before activating the 8th chakra.

We can work to open this chakra by doing practices that increase our spiritual awareness and spiritual wisdom. Below are some methods that may help.

If you are new to working with the chakras and don’t already have an established spiritual practice, seek an energy healer who can guide you.

Visualization Meditation

An individual sitting cross-legged on the floor in a meditative pose with hands resting on knees, palms facing upwards. The individual is wearing a white t-shirt with a graphic of an eye surrounded by star-like symbols and rays, paired with black pants. In the background, there is a plain wall and two potted plants on either side of the person.

Guided visualization meditations are a powerful way to activate the energy of a particular chakra. Visualization techniques allow you to connect with your spiritual body and its subtle energy.

Check out this short Guided Eighth Chakra Meditation. Along with moving your awareness to the energy centers, it features a visualization to meet your higher self and ask it for guidance to advance in your spiritual journey.

Before you begin any meditation practice, take some time to get into a comfortable seated position and connect to the present moment. Take at least a few deep breaths and ensure your spine is straight before beginning.

Affirmations

Like with all chakras, you can use specific affirmations to activate the subtle energy of the 8th chakra. Here are a few examples.

  • I trust my intuition
  • I open myself to divine love
  • I am connected to the cosmic energies
  • I am free of karmic residue
  • I am aligned with my soul’s purpose
  • I am connected to my higher self and personal power
  • I am free from the illusions of my ego
  • I am one with the universe and connected to the heart of Mother Earth

I recommend following this guided Soul Star Affirmation Meditation on Insight Timer. It lasts one hour, so you can play it in the background while working, cooking, cleaning, etc. Hearing affirmations on repeat like this is the most effective way to access the subconscious mind.

Crystal Healing

If you’re familiar with chakra cleansing practices, you’ll already know that crystals hold potent qualities. Working with certain crystals can help us tap into the qualities of an energy center and improve the energy flow there.

Many of the crystals that benefit crown chakra cleansing also work for the eighth chakra, such as:

  • Amethyst – Known as one of the most spiritual crystals, Amethyst promotes spiritual wisdom and connection to divine energy and higher states of consciousness.
  • Clear Quartz – This translucent gemstone promotes spiritual growth and has the power to clear our energetic blockages. When used with other crystals, Quartz can magnify their qualities.
  • Selenite – This clear-colored stone promotes peace, calm, and healing and clears the higher chakras of blockages or stagnation. It can also draw out any negative energy from your aura to facilitate connection to higher realms.
  • Indigo Kyanite – This unique and relatively rare crystal combines the intuition of the violet ray with the trust of the pure blue ray. It is linked to universal truth and spiritual mastery and is even said to facilitate states of lucid dreaming and astral travel.

You can work with these crystals in various ways. The most common methods are to:

  • Hold them while meditating – Choose smooth, rounded, and polished crystals like this Amethyst Palm Stone.
  • Wear them around your neck like with this Natural Selenate Pendant.
  • Keep them on your bedside table – Clusters or crystal lamps like this one by Himalayan Glow are an excellent choice.
  • Use them during an energy healing session like Reiki – For example, this Amethyst Healing Crystal Wand can direct the stone’s energy to certain parts of your body.

Sound Healing

With sound healing, you listen to music tuned to a specific Solfeggio frequency. So, as the 8th chakra has a frequency of 1074 Hz, you can listen to music tuned to this.

This 1-hour 1074 Hz 8th Chakra Activation is ideal. Whether you use it while meditating or while laying in bed at night, it will help to activate the eighth chakra and clear out any blockages present. I recommend listening to it using headphones for optimum effectiveness.

Integrated Energy Therapy (IET)

Certain types of energy healing, such as Integrated Energy Therapy (IET), can also help activate the soul star chakra. IET is an attunement-based energy healing practice that uses a violet angelic ray to clear physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual blockages.

IET is believed to help practitioners release thought patterns, habits, and unexpressed feelings, as well as clear energetic blockages and karmic residue from past lives. The attunement raises your vibration, so you feel more connected to your intuition and soul’s contract.

Delving into the Visual Representation of the 8th Chakra

The Symbolism of the Soul Star Chakra

In spiritual artwork, the 8th chakra is often portrayed with profound meaning. Its symbol takes the form of a lotus flower adorned with a thousand petals, signifying the vast potential and endless opportunities of the soul. This artistic representation goes beyond mere aesthetics; it mirrors the limitless essence of our spiritual path.

Colors and Elements Linked to the Soul Star

When depicted, the 8th chakra is typically represented in hues like gold, white, or iridescent shades. These colors are emblematic of purity, connection to divine energy, and the transcendent nature of human existence. Each color and element associated with the soul star highlights its ethereal characteristics as a beacon of the eternal soul essence and divine affection.

By grasping these symbols, we can forge a deeper connection with the energy of the 8th chakra. It serves as more than just a focal point above our heads; it acts as a portal to elevated consciousness and spiritual enlightenment. Meditate on these symbols to enrich your spiritual journey.

Exploring the Potential of the 8th Chakra for Connecting Across Dimensions

Have you ever pondered the idea that our energy centers could serve as doorways to alternate realms? While it’s widely accepted that the 8th chakra serves as a link to heightened spiritual consciousness, its role in enabling communication between dimensions is often overlooked. This aspect remains largely uncharted territory for many, yet it carries intriguing implications for individuals deeply engaged in spiritual pursuits.

Situated above the crown, the 8th chakra is strategically positioned to operate as a gateway connecting the physical and spiritual planes. It serves as a conduit through which we can interact with vibrations and beings from diverse realms. Such communication often materializes through intuitive sensations, sudden realizations, or even more direct methods like channeling.

In this context, channeling involves consciously allowing spiritual entities or consciousnesses from other dimensions to convey messages through oneself. It’s not about being taken over; instead, it’s a collaborative process where one remains mindful and in charge. Achieving this requires significant spiritual growth and an open eighth chakra.

For those new to this concept, it may seem intimidating at first. Nevertheless, with proper guidance and consistent practices like meditation focused on the 8th chakra, one can gradually nurture this capability.
The journey of interdimensional communication can bring about diverse experiences, often leading to profound spiritual revelations and a deeper grasp of the cosmos.

By nourishing our eighth chakra, we enhance our spiritual path, making these extraordinary encounters more accessible. It’s an exciting aspect of spiritual discovery that calls out to those who aspire to move beyond the mundane and connect with the expansiveness of the universe. Perhaps it’s something worth delving into? As we delve deeper into these elevated energy centers, our spiritual horizons expand further.

Final Thoughts On The 8th Chakra

While the soul star chakra is much less known than the seven major chakras, it is an equally important energy center. By activating the soul star, you’ll not only increase your spiritual connection, but you can heal from past life traumas and release the ego’s restraints. Moreover, this chakra allows us to fully realize and deeply align with our soul’s purpose.

FAQs About The Chakra System

A representation of a human figure in a meditative pose with seven distinct colored areas aligned along the center of the body, often associated with chakras. These colored areas range from red at the base of the torso to violet at the top of the head, correlating to different chakra points. The figure is surrounded by a soft glow, enhancing the mystical or spiritual aesthetic.

What Is The 12 Chakra System?

The 12-chakra system includes the first seven chakras that run from the space of the spine to the crown of the head, plus five additional energy centers, including the soul star chakra, located outside the human body.

There are a few different theories about the order of the 12 chakras. However, one common interpretation is as follows:

  1. Root Chakra
  2. Sacral Chakra
  3. Solar Plexus Chakra
  4. Heart Chakra
  5. Throat Chakra
  6. Third Eye Chakra
  7. Crown Chakra
  8. Soul Star Chakra
  9. Universal Chakra
  10. Earth Star Chakra
  11. Galactic Chakra
  12. Divine Gateway Chakra

Note that the Earth Star chakra is said to be located below the root chakra. Chakras 9 to 12 are located off the body above the crown chakra in one line (all directly above each other).

If you’re interested in learning more about these 5 additional chakras, I recommend reading The Complete Guide to Chakras by April Pfender, which goes much deeper into the 12-chakra system.

What Are The 114 Chakras?

Unfortunately, there is no knowledge of what the 114 chakras are called. However, they are believed to consist of the 7 major chakras we already know about, 21 minor chakras, and 86 micro chakras. According to this theory, 112 reside within the physical body, while only 2 are outside.

While the seven major chakras are located along the spine and in the head, the minor ones are in other body parts, such as the hands, knees, legs, elbows, tongue, shoulders, eyes, ears, and nose. However, they are not all active simultaneously; some are prominent, while others lie dormant.
