I recently began Yin Yoga classes and required suitable accessories. I purchased two surf blue blocks, which are lightweight and stable. While there are cheaper options available, I chose these for their aesthetic appeal. They are darker than the product photo, but I appreciate that as it will help hide dirt and scuffs.

I have purchased numerous foam blocks during my tenure as a yoga instructor, and they have all been quite similar – lightweight, prone to scratching and chipping easily, and somewhat unstable. However, the Hugger Mugger block stands out. It is a heavier block made of denser foam, with a stronger and scratch-resistant surface. While it may feel harder under the tail bone and upper back, it is perfect for supporting the hands in standing balance poses. I highly recommend it.

This foam block is surprisingly solid and effective for yoga, especially for less flexible individuals. It appears to be of higher quality compared to the blocks at my studio. It is easy to clean and use. I might consider trying a cork block next time for ecological reasons, although the glue used in cork blocks may be a concern. I find this foam block to be denser than the “Gaia” brand blocks at my studio.
