10 reviews for Men’s Z-Trail EV Hiking Sandals

  1. Leon

I bought these after seeing them recommended for ultralight camp shoes for backpacking. Tested them on a 30-mile hike and they worked well. Extremely light, great for airing out feet at camp. Straps keep them secure, good for stream crossings. The 0 drop feature is noticeable and feels close to barefoot. Comfortable around camp. Straps can be fidgety to put on, especially in the middle of the night. Expensive, hoping they last.

I bought a Men’s size shoe that matched my woman’s size to save money. This sandal is great! I adjusted the strap across the top because it was new to me. It’s good for my bunions. The sturdy sole provides good grip and my feet don’t slide. I wear them for work, gardening, mowing, walking, and hiking. Probably wouldn’t wear them to church. Didn’t post a picture due to my feet. Once you try barefoot shoes, it’s hard to go back. Not all barefoot shoes have a wide toe box – depends on the brand.

I wish I had a better picture of my first day in this shoe, but it’s pretty evident how my feet improved, not only in feeling but also visually. Feeling: I feel more balanced overall because I use my whole foot vertically and horizontally. The first time I rode a bike with this and put a foot on the ground, my brain was, “Oh, that feels different.” Since then, I’ve been on a journey of feeling new sensations and strength in my feet. My toes are stronger and more active in the step. Visually:…

    Extremely comfortable.

  5. Kenneth Conroy

Picked these up for their water-safe design with a back strap, and I absolutely adore them. They’re lightweight and compact in a bag. Would love to see more flip-flops like these in the future. My only issue is that they’re a bit tricky to slip on and off quickly due to the design, but once adjusted, they stay put. It makes sense given the minimalist and lightweight design goals. They offer a different experience compared to thicker, cushioned sandals. They truly feel like barefoot with…

I found them comfortable and gripped well on rocks. However, just a little water under my foot during a trail run caused my foot to slip inside and there was no longer any support. My foot started coming out from all sides of the sandal. The strap ended up breaking after 200 meters and I almost twisted my ankle. Designed for the trail, but the design needs to be reevaluated if you want it to truly serve that purpose.

    Good product

    • The durability of the materials is average. The soles are soft in one area and wear out, while in another area they are hard and start to detach. This happens gradually, but the durability is not high, just average.
    • The sole is hard, but it cushions stones well. The straps are sturdy. They tend to tighten on their own a bit, as the upper and lower parts are the same strap.
    • The sole has cleats that significantly improve grip on rugged and grassy terrain, but slightly worsen it on smooth and…

Way too big compared to the indicated size. Unbelievable.

  10. Rick

I have been a full-time barefooter for 10 years and decided to give zero drop barefoot sandals a try after reading some articles. I chose the Xero Z trail after researching for 2 weeks and was impressed by the 7-day trial period offered. The sandals were easy to adjust, light, and comfortable. The open toe design enhanced the barefoot feel, although I found them a bit slippery in water. Despite durability concerns, I was reassured by Xero’s warranty and ended up ordering a pair for my wife….
